The Round-Up Project
Operation Round-Up has enormous potential for helping people who desperately need the support of their neighbors. It can also aid rescue squads, volunteer fire departments, daycare centers, literacy programs, senior citizens centers, health clinics and other critical community services.
Operation Round-Up reminds people of how far a little generosity and cooperation can go toward improving a person's life – and you can be a part of that improvement.
Making A Difference
Since 1939, Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative has met the needs of east-central Oklahoma residents. CVEC's principal goal has always been to provide quality service to our members, which means delivering dependable, reasonably priced electricity and offering innovative programs designed to aid our members in the safe, efficient use of electricity.
In keeping with the spirit of meeting the needs of the communities we serve, CVEC is proud of its Operation Round-Up program. Designed to gather voluntary contributions to assist worthwhile projects in co-op communities, Operation Round-Up will assist in providing medical care and equipment, food, clothing, housing and many other needed services. In addition, operation Round-Up will enable you, as a co-op member, to participate in this assistance.
How It Works
The program is simple. Each month, participating members will allow CVEC to automatically round up their electric bills to the next highest dollar. For example, if the bill is actually $58.25, you will pay $59. The difference will go into a fund from which donations are made to individuals and organizations. The average cost per meter will be $6 a year. The maximum a person could pay per meter per year is $11.88. Individually, it isn't much, but if all CVEC customers join in, Operation Round-Up would have more than $120,000 annually for worthwhile projects.
Contributions to Operation Round-Up are tax-deductible, and we'll note them on your contribution on your January electric bill each year. We'll also keep you informed through the ElectraLite newsletter on the activities on the Canadian Valley Trust and give updates on monies awarded. All Operation Round-Up funds stay right here in our communities. Guidelines for awarding this money address special needs for individuals or families as well as special community projects. We will not consider political campaigns and issues for funding. The CVEC Foundation Board of Directors determines how the funds are distributed.
Beneficiaries
To be considered a recipient of Operation Round-Up funds, please completely fill out the application below. Be specific with your request and detailed with the amount requested. Please attach a separate sheet if you need more space than is allotted for the information. Include a copy of some form of identification for dependent children (e.g., social security card, TANF check, etc.), and also include the most recent copy of your income tax return. We need a copy of the lease enclosed with the application if you are renting.
We recommend you have someone such as a doctor, counselor or social worker attach a letter that details the need or purpose of the request. If you have any questions, please call our office at any of the numbers listed on the application, and we will try to help you fill out this paperwork. Incomplete applications may be delayed or denied due to incomplete or insufficient information. You will be notified by mail of the board's decision on funding.
